Clogged Sewer Pipe Flows into Dubuque Creek

DUBUQUE, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- A plugged sanitary sewer pipe located in a wooded area behind 1020 Kelly Lane has caused untreated wastewater to flow into Catfish Creek.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified late last night of a possible sanitary sewer overflow from a manhole located in the woods behind 1020 Kelly Lane. Crews were dispatched to the area, but were unable to locate and remove the line blockage at that time due to the rugged terrain and lack of light.

Sewer maintenance crews returned to the area at first light this morning to locate the blockage and open the sewer line. Work continues at the time of this media notice.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the posted area for forty-eight (48) hours.
