School Board to Discuss Redistricting

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) -- The Iowa City Community School District school board is set to discuss elementary school redistricting boundaries made by the administration at a work session Tuesday night.

The discussion over the Attendance Area Development plan drew controversy at the May 13 board meeting, when board members decided to table the discussion and vote on the proposed boundaries, despite the large crowd of community members present to make comment on the issue.

The work session was then scheduled, in order to give board members more time to study the recommended maps, though some members thought the board was remiss in sidestepping public comment.

Board member Tuyet Dorau later Tweeted, "Watch as ICCSD Board members once again trying to shut down the community," with a link to that section of the board meeting discussion.

The work session is scheduled to last from 6:05 to 8 p.m., with a regular board meeting directly following.
