Cedar Rapids Receives More FEMA Funds

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Cedar Rapids will now receive more money from FEMA for repairs to an incinerator damaged in the Floods of 2008.

The city was previously denied by FEMA for the funding to fix the incinerator at the Water Pollutions Control facility.

But new information during a second appeal allowed the agency to approve of part of the amount requested by the city.

To date, Cedar Rapids has spent $17-million on repairs to the incinerator.

With the funds  approved, FEMA will now reimburse the city for the majority of those repair costs.
