Police Say Pot Brownies Sent to UI Campus

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An Iowa City student is facing charges after police say he was sent marijuana brownies in the mail.

The Johnson County Drug Task Force received a package that was taken by Burge Hall staff on the University of Iowa campus because it smelled strongly of marijuana.

The task force found the intended recipient who claimed ownership. 19-year-old Christian Hernandez admitted that he knew he was receiving pot brownies through the mail. He also said that he received a previous package of pot brownies and gave them out to his friends.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
