Sheriff's Deputy Injured In Crash

JANESVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- A Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after suffering minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash involving deputy Chad Chase happened Sunday night on Highway 218 near a county road.

Authorities say Chase was driving a marked squad car when he collided with a car driven by 44-year-old Melissa Kramer, of Waverly. Chase was responding to a call but did not have his lights and siren activated.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports Chase suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Kramer was injured and taken to a Waterloo hospital. Additional information about her condition was not available.
