Teen Sentenced in Deli Stabbing

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa City teenager has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for stabbing a woman at a restaurant last year.

The sentence was issued Tuesday in Johnson County District Court.

The 18-year-old Heather Stanfield will serve 10 years for willful injury causing serious injury, and five years for going armed with intent.

Investigators say the Stanfield, who was 17 at the time of the February 2013 attack, stabbed a woman with an 8-inch knife while her three children watched. The woman survived her injuries.

Charges of attempted murder and willful injury causing bodily injury were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
