Pursuit Ends With 2 Arrests in Waterloo

WATERLOO, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- A brief vehicle pursuit happened Saturday evening after police attempted to make a traffic stop in Waterloo.

Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team attempted the traffic stop in the area of Broadway Street and Park Road at 9:42 PM.  The driver of the vehicle led officers on a short pursuit.  The vehicle then stopped in the area of Harrison Street and Logan Ave.  That's where both the driver and passenger fled on foot.

As the driver was fleeing, he dropped a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun on the ground, which was later recovered.  Both the driver and passenger were later apprehended.

The driver was identified as Dennis Brown, Jr., 30, of Waterloo and the passenger was identified as Antonio R. Evans, 28, of Waterloo.

Brown was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, eluding and interference with official acts involving a firearm, all Class D felonies.

Evans was charged with aiding and abetting interference with official acts involving a firearm, a Class D felony.

Both were taken to the Black Hawk County Jail.
