Kansas City Shooting Update

Kansas City, KS (CBS 2/FOX 28) -

The man accused of killing three people outside Jewish centers near Kansas City could soon face even more charges.

Federal prosecutors now say they want to prosecute Frazier Cross for hate crimes as well as murder.

On Sunday, Passover eve, police say Cross opened fire outside a Jewish community center - killing two people before driving to a Jewish assisted living center and killing a third person.

Anti-racism organizations say cross has been active in white supremacist groups since the 1970's and even published a book called "The White Man Speaks Out."

Federal prosecutors believe that hatred was enough for Cross to shoot and kill three people outside of two Jewish centers near Kansas City, even though all three victims were Christians.

A 14-year-old and his grandfather were attending singing auditions and the third victim was an occupational therapist who worked with visually impaired children.
