Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/ FOX 28)- Today's CBS 2's YOUR HEALTH EXPO was not only a fun outing for Fairfax resident Jim Sargent and his wife, but also a way to seek help.
"I have lower back pain," he said. "I was in a car accident in 1995. It wasn't my fault but I got totaled."
He hopes seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis will help relieve the pain from an accident almost two decades ago.
Sargent said doctors told him that the pain would only creep up as he grew older. He started feeling the pain about five years ago, but didn't act on it right away.
The health expo today helped show him that there are people who can help.
"I think they can help," he said. "I hope."
The kind of help that Doctor Matthew Dietz said people should start before the pain starts.
"It's not all about symptoms and pain. A lot of the time actually the worst symptom is 'the no symptom' symptom."
Doctor Dietz with Discover Health Chiropractic in Cedar Rapids, said prevention is key and you can't judge how a body feels but how it functions.
Pain or no pain, he encourages all patients from infant to 100 years old to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
"The most important thing in your life is your health," Dietz said.
And one of his regularsm who comes in every Monday, couldn't agree more.
"I feel a lot better after getting adjustments," Nicole Beckett said. " I sleep a little bit better. I don't get sick as much because my immunity is high."
"It costs so much less to actually try and take care of yourself then try and fix after there's a problem," Dietz said.
He says people shouldn't be concerned about the medical bills. It's all about treating your body right and eating right.
