Strong Allergy Season

Doctors say the wet weather this winter primed the trees and delayed the start of allergy season.

Now, most trees are ready to bloom and are pollinating aggressively. The biggest culprits this time of year are trees and grasses as well as mold.

Experts say people with allergies should check pollen counts before heading out.

"Now all of the tree pollen and the budding trees are ready to go and they are pollinating very aggressively. There is a pollen burst going on right now," said Dr. Clifford Bassett, Medical Director, Allergy and Asthma Care of New York.

The biggest culprits this time of year are trees and grasses as well as mold. Experts say people with allergies should check pollen counts before heading out.

"Pollen , typically higher in the morning, you want to be outside.. later in the day when pollen counts are typically lower," said Bassett.

Allergists also recommend wearing sunglasses to keep pollen out of your eyes and showering every night to wash all the pollen off your skin and hair.
