Drug Drop-Off Today in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- The Cedar Rapids Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold a prescription drug drop-off event from 10 AM-2 PM today.  The event will be held at the Cedar Rapids Police Station, 505 1st Street SW.

Everyone is welcome to bring their unused prescription medications to the drop-off.  A new drug disposal box is located in the vestibule of the station.

Using the disposal box helps protect the water supply and prevent drug misuse and abuse.  Disposal of unused medications by flushing them down a toilet or placing them in the garbage can pose threats to the groundwater supply.

Liquids and needles or sharps will not be accepted at the event.  All medications in pill or patch form are accepted free and anonymously with no questions asked.
