Jacobs Leads Narrowly in Loras Poll

DUBUQUE, Iowa (CBS 2/Fox 28) -- A GOP poll of Iowa voters conducted by Loras College reveals an extremely tight race between business man Mark Jacobs and State Senator Jodi Ernst.

The two are vying for the U.S. Senate seat that Tom Harkin is vacating.

The results show Jacobs and Ernst with 18.8 and 18.1 percent support, respectively.

The results show just how competitive the race is with the June 3rd primary now just six weeks away.

While the poll did not appear to indicate any gender favorability among respondents, it did show geographic support.  Ernst derived much of her support from Western Iowa.  Ernst is from Red Oak.

The poll was conducted earlier this month among 600 Iowa voters.
