U-of-I to Receive FEMA Grant

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The University of Iowa will be receiving a more than $1.4-million grant from FEMA.

Representative Dave Loebsack announced the grant earlier on Friday.

The grant is part of an effort to reimburse the university for having to use alternative sources of power after the school's power plant shut down during the Floods of 2008.

In a statement, Loebsack said he's proud of the progress Iowans have made over the past six years and that the grant is just another step in the right direction for eastern Iowa.
