Red Cross Unveils New Flood App

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The American Red Cross is looking to help people who live in flood-prone areas be better prepared thanks to their smartphones.
The Red Cross' Flood App was just released today, kicking off National Flood Safety Awareness week.
The app has checklists detailing how to get ready for a flood, what needs to be handy in case you need to leave your home quickly, and even what to do when you come back.
The American Red Cross says that similar apps that it's developed for hurricanes and first aid are documented to have played a roll in saving lives, all because someone took the time to download them
