Pothole Patrol: Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) -- The Iowa City Streets Department will fill nearly 3,500 potholes this season, and road crews are already getting a jump on the project.

Every day, the city has three two-man crews hauling 12 tons of asphalt to fill about 300 potholes.

They face challenges with the changing weather, and having to clear out ice and new snow before filling a pothole, but assistant superintendent John Sobaski said the department is trying to fill as many potholes as quickly as possible in order to keep drivers safe.

To report a pothole, visit icgov.org or call the Streets Department at 319-356-5181.
