Court to Control MLK Bible and Nobel Peace Prize

ATLANTA (AP) -- A judge plans to order that Martin Luther King Jr.'s bible and Nobel Peace Prize be placed in a safe deposit box controlled by the court pending the outcome of a legal dispute over who owns the items.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney made the decision Wednesday.  King's estate is controlled by his two sons, Martin Luther King III and Dexter King. They asked the judge to order that their sister, Bernice King, turn over the two prized items.

The complaint cites a 1995 agreement in which King's heirs agreed to sign over to the estate the rights to many items they inherited from him. Bernice King has said her brothers want to sell the Bible and peace prize to a private buyer and that she opposes that.
