Iowa City Wi-Fi Expansion

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
   Good news for Iowa City businesses, residents, and visitorS: free public Wi-Fi has landed Downtown.
   As of February 19th, the city is offering free public internet access in the Pedestrian Mall.
   Anyone who wants to get online just needs to connected to "IC Free."
   Officials say the expansion is important to business growth in the area.
   "Anymore it is an expectation of a service that any robust downtown offers.  We wanted to make sure that we were meeting the needs of our customers, the people who come downtown," said Nancy Bird, Executive Director of the Iowa City Downtown District.
   The free wi-fi connection has been in the works for Iowa City since last summer.
   City leaders are now considering extending access into other downtown areas.
