Missing Newborn Found Safe in Iowa

WEST BRANCH, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Authorities in Wisconsin Friday morning reported a newborn baby missing for more than 24 hours was found safe in eastern Iowa.  Beloit Police say the Chief of the West Branch Police Department recovered 6-day-old Kayden Powell.  The newborn was found in a totebag, swaddled in blankets in a gas station along Interstate 80.
Authorities say despite the cold temperatures, the baby is doing well.  The baby's family has been notified and authorities are now working on reuniting the newborn with his family.
Yesterday, a woman was taken into custody in West Branch on an unrelated warrant.  She was wanted for questioning in this case.  Investigators say the baby was found in the same area where Kristen Smith, the woman taken into custody on an unrelated warrant, made contact with authorities.  But investigators have not publicly linked her to the abduction and only say she is a "person of interest."  No other information regarding the investigation into the abduction was released.
