University of Iowa Sexual Assault Warnings Up

IOWA CITY (AP) -- A new report shows that the number of Sexual Assault warnings issued by the university police department have increased from last school year.

According to the report, since the start of the fall semester, seven sexual assault warnings have been issued, including one issued on Monday after a student reported an assault at a university residence hall. Last year, only one had been issued in the same period of time.

University officials attribute the increase to more women coming forward to report a sexually-based assault.
