UI President Issues Apology

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- University of Iowa President Sally Mason issued a public apology Tuesday for comments recently made regarding sexual assault.
"I am sorry for the pain my words caused."  Said Mason.  I have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct. I know that sexual assault is never the fault of the survivor.
Her apology comes just days after published comments from President Mason, where she said she'd like to stop all sexual assault on campus, but that likely won't happen because of "human nature."
That triggered a public backlash from many on campus.
The safety and well-being of every student is an absolute priority for every one of us on this campus, she said. The university will do everything in its power to prevent sexual violence, support survivors, and hold offenders responsible.
