IC Parking Changes For Snow Removal
IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Some parking changes are coming to Iowa City this week, because of all the extra snowfall over recent weeks.
The Iowa City Streets Division will be temporarily prohibiting parking on designated streets, to allow for snow removal. Crews will post no parking signs at least 48 hours in advance of the work, to allow drivers enough time to move their vehicles.
Signs will be posted on the following streets Tuesday, Feb. 11 for plowing operations beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13:
-Iowa Avenue from Gilbert Street to Muscatine Avenue (south side only)
-Washington Street from Van Buren Street to Muscatine Avenue, (north side only)
-College Street from Van Buren Street to Summit Street (south side only)
Signs will be posted on the following streets Wednesday, Feb. 12 for plowing operations beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14:
-Jefferson Street from Gilbert Street to Evans Street (south side only)
-Iowa Avenue from Gilbert Street to Muscatine Avenue (north side only)
-Washington Street from Van Buren Street to Pearl Street (south side only)
-College Street from Van Buren Street to Summit Street (north side only)
Parking will be prohibited and enforced as posted on these dates in the respective areas. Violators will be towed at their own expense.
You should plan ahead where you will move your car. Your best option is to move your car to an off-street parking space. If you cannot do this on private property, the following public parking options are available:
-Dubuque Street Ramp (220 S. Dubuque Street)
-Capitol Street Ramp (Burlington and Capitol Streets)
-Tower Place and Parking (Iowa Avenue and Gilbert Streets)
-Chauncey Swan Ramp (on Washington Street across from City Hall). Access lower level from Washington Street, upper levels from College Street bridge
-Court Street Transportation Center Ramp (Dubuque and Court Streets)
