Flu Deaths Reported in Iowa

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Iowa health officials Tuesday reported the death of a otherwise healthy child from the flu.  The Iowa Department of Public Health says it has also been notified of several "probable" adult deaths related to the flu.  The Centers for Disease Control says nationwide, 10 flu-related deaths have been reported.
IDPH strongly recommends all Iowans over six months of age should receive the flu vaccine this year and every year. Other ways to prevent the spread of the virus include:
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Clean your hands frequently
  • Contain germs by staying home when sick
