Big Ten Suspends Head Hawk

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- A major outburst from Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery will sideline the leader for one game.  Today the Big Ten Conference announced they would suspend the men's basketball coach for Thursday's matchup against Northwestern.  The conference also issued a public reprimand for his behavior during Iowa's loss to Wisconsin Sunday evening.
In a statement, McCaffery again apologized for his behavior.  "I regret my actions and accept the Big Ten Conference's decision.  I am ready to move on."
The University of Iowa will also pay a $10,000 fine as a result of the violation of the conference's rules.
Assistant Coach Kirk Speraw will make the head coaching decisions for Iowa Thursday Night against Northwestern.
