CR City Manager Presents Budget Proposal

CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The Cedar Rapids City Council now has a proposed budget on the table, laying out the city's financial and spending plan for the next year.

City Manager Jeff Pomeranz presented his proposal to council members Thursday. His proposed budget maintains the current property tax levy rate of $15.21621 per thousand dollars of taxable valuation. If approved, this would be the sixth consecutive fiscal year the city's property tax levy would be at that rate.

"The 2015 budget has a balanced general fund that will allow the city to continue to provide critical services at the highest level possible, and allocates funding to projects the council has determined to be a priority for the community as a whole, said Pomeranz.

Full details of the budget are available on the citys website at www.cedar-rapids.org.
