Branstad Stands By Juvenile Home Closure
DES MOINES (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
Governor Terry Branstad says he stands by his decision to close the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo.
Branstad has faced recent criticism for the closure from state Democrats and former employees of the center.
Lawmakers are now looking at legislation to reopen the home and change the way troubled youth are treated in Iowa.
The juvenile home in Toledo closed on January 15th after an investigation into the treatment of residents.
More than 20 girls were relocated and 93 workers laid off.
