Renewable Fuels Impact Study

DES MOINES (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
Iowa lawmakers now have more proof that cutting the renewable fuels program would hurt Iowa's economy.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association released an economic impact study on the proposed cuts.
It says the ethanol industry provides 4% of Iowa's domestic gross income, generates $4 billion for Iowa households, and supports more than 62,000 jobs.
If federal officials lower the amount of ethanol used in the nation's gasoline, the report says thousands of workers across the country would be laid off.
A decision on the proposal is expected soon.
