Better Deals for December Car Buyers
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28)--Auto dealers are hoping you'll hit the roads to pick up a new car.
Some say now is the best time ever for consumers to find a great deal.
It's the end of the year and this is when things tend to wind down, but for auto dealers this is when things rev up.
End of the year sales it's got people filling malls and shops looking for the best deals, but what about cars.
Some say December is one of the best times of the year to snag a new set of wheels.
"I think it's because of the manufacturers push. If you turn on the TV right now, if you turn on to channel 2, you're probably going to see some sort of manufacturers push and the rebates that come out. The incentives, said Gavin McGrath, General Sales Manager at McGrath.
According to Edmunds.com, a car sales website, in December 2012, the average incentive on a new car or truck was more than $2,000the highest point of that year.
The same is expected this year and Dick Church wants to take advantage of it.
"We've been looking for several months now and we're just looking for the best deal we can get, he said.
Church says there's another tiny reason why deals are better so late into the year.
"Everything is going to be a year older in another week, he said.
Either way, when it comes to end of the year car sales shoppers like Church and auto dealerships both have something to smile about.
"It's always really fun. We probably do about forty percent of our business in December that last week of the month, said McGrath.
