Iowa City Man Accused of Scamming Elderly Victim

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
The Iowa City Police Department is requesting assistance in locating 25 year old Matthew Jacob Brown for whom there are currently two arrest warrants for Theft in the 2nd Degree, a class D felony.
It is alleged that on July 23, 2013, and again on October 11, 2013, Brown bilked an elderly Iowa City resident out of thousands of dollars after performing a minimal amount of yard work for the victim and charging an exorbitant fee.
Iowa City Police have been unable to locate Brown and it is possible that he scammed others living in the area. If you suspect that you, or someone you know, have been victimized by Brown, please contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5276.
If you do see Brown, do not confront him, but immediately contact local law enforcement.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
