Horizons Close to Holiday Goal

Christmas is still a few days away, but Horizons, A Family Service Alliance has already received a very generous gift from the community this holiday season, with donors bringing in close to $30,000 for the agency's annual appeal.
"Thirty thousand dollars is the goal we set for this campaign, and while we're excited to have our current amount, we'd really like to surpass that goal before the end of the month," said Laura Nass, Horizons' development director. "It's incredible just how far even the smallest donation can go."

For example:
$40 can provide a homebound senior enrolled in the Meals On Wheels program with fresh, healthy lunches for an entire week
$100 covers an emotional support session with Horizons Mental Health Counseling for a child of recently-divorced parents
$150 can furnish a toddler bed and mattress for a young child so they no longer have to sleep on the floor
$500 supports five financial literacy neighborhood outreach programs through Consumer Credit Counseling Services

"Giving is what makes this a special time of year, and we would appreciate more donations to benefit not only the agency, but more importantly, the people who depend on the services we provide," Nass said. "The entire staff at Horizons sends its best wishes for a joyous and safe holiday season. We look forward to carrying out our mission to instill hope, change lives, and brighten futures throughout 2014."
To make a tax-deductible donation, go to or call Ms. Nass at (319) 398-3943.
