Family Picks Up Pieces After Business is Destroyed in Fire

WEST UNION (CBS 2/ FOX 28) A family business now sits as rubble.
It finally hit me, you have nothing right now, said Justin Steinlage who manages Unionland Feed and Supply.
Its our life and soul right there, said store owner Gary Steinlage. You know its everything we worked for, its gone.
The Steinlage family says theyre just grateful to be alive as they watch smoke rise from the ashes of their feed and supply storejust one day after it went up in flames.
The ceiling was just engulfed, lights were popping, by that time everybody got out, Justin said.
Officials are still looking into what started the fire which destroyed the feed and supply store and another business nearby.
Jessica Sadler own MC Js embroidery next door. Even though the fire didnt spread to her store, it had an impact.
Smoke damage, a little bit of water damage, Sadler said pointing at the back wall of her store.
Shes lost more than $10,000 worth of merchandise.
All the thread, the material that we use for embroidery, its all going to have to be replaced, she said.
A small loss she says compared to her next door neighbors who even through the clouds of smoke, can still see a silver lining.
Well regroup, Justin said. Well come back. I dont know how or when, but we will.
