Middle School Students Expelled For Bullying

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- Three Sibley-Ocheyedan Middle School football players face criminal charges for allegedly bullying a teammate before a game in Rock Rapids last month.

Lyon County Sheriff Steward Vander Stoep says an eighth grade student has been charged and two others will be charged.

The Sioux City Journal reports charges include simple assault, assault with sexual intent and disseminating pornography.

The taunting started after a boy reported to the school's principal that a friend had been assaulted in a school restroom. It culminated on a bus in Rock Rapids on Oct. 15 when several boys held down the victim, one put his genitals in the boy's face while another took a picture with a smartphone and sent it to other students.

Two boys have been expelled from school for the semester.
