Farm to School Numbers Low in Midwest

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX28) -- Farm to School programs across the Midwest are lagging according to a new government study.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that 25 to 50% of districts in Midwestern states  participate in the Farm to School initiative.
The program promotes the use of locally or regionally grown foods in area school cafeterias.
Though numbers are low, analysts say that Iowa created nearly two dozen new jobs as part of the initiative.
