UI Increasing Computer Security

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- The University of Iowa is enhancing its security measures after several employees were tricked into an online scam seeking personal information.
Jane Drews, head of security for the university's information technology services, says her office is working to reduce the amount of phishing emails and other spam that make it through security filters. She says there have been 800 phishing scams via campus email this semester.
Phishing scams usually involve people being asked to click on certain links via email. The user is often asked to enter private information.
Drews says it's important for people to be savvier about spotting suspicious emails, especially since some look authentic.
