Thanksgiving Rush Causing Cooking Frenzy

CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/ FOX 28)--As shoppers make a mad dash to grocery stores to pick up last minute fixings, people like Barb Wooff have their hands full.
"It's just been crazy, said Wooff. It's been crazy throughout the whole entire store."
She's the kitchen manager at Hyvee on Edgewood Road. She says her hot deli counter has been swamped these past two days.
"Party potatoes, cranberry relish, cranberry fluff-- anything that goes along with a thanksgiving dinner," Wooff said.
And it's not just the hot sides keeping Wooff and her staff busy, for families on the go, pre-packaged full-course thanksgiving meals have also been going fast.
And it's not just turkeys and side dishes getting snatched off shelves.
The line at Kathy's Pies wrapped around the bakery for most of the afternoon.
That's why customers like Amie Atanasoff placed her orders two weeks ago.
"I have a chocolate, apple, cherry, and pumpkin (pies)," Atanasoff said.
A feast and a frenzy stores say they're trying their best to keep up with.
"It's Thanksgiving," Wooff said.
