Veterans in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, IOWA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Veterans at the University of Iowa spent Monday celebrating their brothers and sisters in arms as a part of Veterans Day.
Vets took part in a day-long conference called Veteran Vitality, which included public discussion panels and a luau celebration.
The veterans also stuck 6,000 flags in the ground in front of the Pentacrest to commemorate vets from all over the state.
Elizabeth Schwendinger searched through all 6,000 until she found her father's flag, just so she could send him a picture of it on her cell phone.
"My dad spent two years outside of the country fighting for this country, and I think I can spend a couple hours in the snow looking through the flags," she said.
There are more than 1,400 students and faculty veterans at the University of Iowa right now.
