Five Injured In Anamosa Fire

ANAMOSA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Five people are recovering from burns in an early morning apartment fire.  That includes three children.

Firefighters were called to the Cat Adoption Center on South Elm Street around 5 Sunday Morning, for a second story fire.

Crews were able to get the flames out quickly, but the children, their mother, and a man living above the shelter were all injured.

Two the children were airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the others taken by ambulance.

Anamosa Fire Chief Tim Shada says at last check, all but one of the children are released from the burn unit.

Volunteers have captured all but seven of the cats that escaped as crews put the fire out.
