Jury Chosen in Trial of IA Guard Tied to Slaying

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa (AP) -- A jury has been chosen in the trial of a former Iowa jail guard accused of killing of his pregnant wife.
Jury selection wrapped up Tuesday in Henry County during the second day of trial for 23-year-old Seth Techel, of Agency. The jury consists of eight men and eight women, as well as four alternate jurors.
The Des Moines Register reports opening arguments are set to begin Wednesday morning.
Seth Techel is charged with first-degree murder and non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy in the May 2012 death of Lisa Techel and their unborn child.
Techel's trial was moved from Ottumwa to Mount Pleasant because of publicity surrounding the first trial, which ended in mistrial in March.
