Oelwein Man Accused Of Shooting Wife, Self

OELWEIN (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Two people are hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday in Oelwein.

At about 6:50 a.m., police responded to 170 10th Ave. for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived at the home, they saw and heard gunfire inside. Then 44-year-old Myron Meador came outside and was taken into custody by police.

Meador had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the home, officers found Meador's wife, 38-year-old Niki Meador, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to a local hospital, then later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There's no word yet on their condition.

Police determined Myron shot Niki several times before shooting himself. Myron is now facing a charge of attempted murder.
