Grave Robber Gets Probation

DETROIT, MI (AP) --

Authorities say a Detroit man who stole his father's body from a cemetery with the hope of bringing him back to life has been sentenced to probation. After 49-year-old Vincent Bright pleaded guilty to the crime in August, a Circuit Court Judge says he must stay on mental health medications or face the possibility of jail time. Acting on a tip from other family members, police found the corpse of his 93-year-old father in the home freezer. Authorities say Vincent Bright is religious and took the body in hopes that he would be resurrected.
