Construction Ties Up Morning Commute

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Two road construction projects added up to a big headache for commuters in Linn County Wednesday.  County workers have shut down Blairs Ferry Road between Cedar Rapids and Palo for resurfacing work.
Meanwhile, a project in Cedar Rapids is affecting traffic along Edgewood Road NE just north of the Cedar River Bridge.  Problem is, Edgewood Road is also serving as part of the detour for the Blairs Ferry Road project.
The problem came to a head Wednesday Morning when cement trucks were brought in to complete median work along Edgewood Road.  The step further delayed traffic, backing it up and delaying people's trip to work and school.
City leaders in Cedar Rapids say they expect the work on Edgewood Road to wrap up around Friday.  But work on Blairs Ferry Road will take at least another month to complete.
