Keokuk Worried About Dying Trees

KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) -- Officials in Keokuk say they're worried about dozens of dead or dying trees in a park that overlooks the Mississippi River.
About 60 trees are dead or dying in the 50-acre Rand Park.
Keokuk Garden Club Vice President Sandy Kelly calls the situation "dire."
The club offered to plant new trees if city workers will water them.
Trees have been planted recently, but officials say many died. Some were hit by mowers or cut by weed trimmers.
Officials say about 30 of the dead trees in Rand Park are set for removal.
