Iowa Stations Purchased

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) Nexstar Broadcasting Group announced Monday that is has purchased three Iowa TV stations including WOI-TV in Des Moines..

Nexstar said it will acquire stations in Des Moines, Rock Island, Ill., and Sioux City from Citadel Communications for $88 million.

WHBF-TV, a CBS station in the Quad Cities, and KCAU-TV, an ABC station in Sioux City, were also part of the sale.

The company will immediately begin operating the three stations under a new agreement.

"The acquisition of the Des Moines and Sioux City stations marks Nexstar's entree into Iowa, an important state for political advertising activity, while the Rock Island station also reaches Iowa and will benefit from efficiencies related to Nexstar's existing operations in Illinois," read the news release from the company.
