Man Arrested in CR Robbery

CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Cedar Rapids police say one of two men suspected in a robbery Thursday afternoon has been arrested.

Police tell CBS 2/FOX 28 the incident happened about 12:45 Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a Kum and Go 32nd St. NE and First Ave. NE.

They say two 17 year old males had just gotten into their vehicles when they were approached by two people. One of the suspects got into the vehicle while the other opened the car door.

They demanded anything of value, and took two wallets and a cell phone. No weapon was displayed and no one was hurt.

The men fled in their car, which was later found empty. While waiting at the car, one of the suspects came back and was arrested for the robbery.

17 year old Jamal McKaufman of Cedar Rapids was charged with 2nd Degree Robbery and taken to the Linn County Detention center.

The second suspect is still being sought and the investigation is on-going.
