Authorities Seize Dog After Attack in Waterloo

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) -- Waterloo officers seized a dog after it rushed into a home and attacked a woman and her dogs before being scared off by another resident who repeatedly struck the attacking animal with a table.
The incident happened Friday morning. Beth Rosenberg opened her door to let her dogs out when a dog described as a pit bull ran inside and lunged at her.
Rosenberg's dachshund came to her defense, but the attacking dog clamped down on its head. Her 5-month-old Rottweiler then joined in.
After hearing the commotion, Rosenberg's boyfriend picked up a rattan dining room table. He hit the dog five times with the table before it ran off.
The dog lived nearby. Animal control officer Maria Tiller says the owner will be cited.
