Murder Suspect Pleads to Lesser Charges
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- A Central City man will not face a murder charge in the death of Gregory O'Hare last year.
Martin Wilkinson entered a plea of guilty on a charge of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm as a felon. A sentencing date has not been set.
Wilkinson shot and killed O'Hare with a a handgun recovered by police after standoff with Wilkinson.
Investigators say O'Hare was shot at least eight times. According to a criminal complaint, Wilkinson told authorities "it just got out of hand," and admitted to police that he shot O'Hare.
When sentenced, Wilkinson could face up to 30 years in prison.
