20 CR students Receive Shopping Spree

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28)- On Wednesday, twenty Corridor students in need will have an opportunity to visit the SW Cedar Rapids Target store to purchase school supplies, clothing and other must-have necessities just in time for back-to-school.

The Salvation Army and Target are helping these students gear up for the upcoming academic year with the Target School Spree.

Each child, selected by The Salvation Army, will be awarded an $81 gift card to purchase much-needed back-to-school supplies. Additionally, each child will be paired with a volunteer chaperone for their fun day of back-to-school shopping. The shopping spree will begin at 9:00am on Wednesday, August 7th at the Target on Edgewood Road SW.

Target has sponsored these shopping sprees since 2009 to help prepare children for the first day of school and has awarded the Salvation Army nationwide $1 million to cover Target GiftCards and transportation costs.
