Scrap Metal Theft Arrests

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) --
Authorities in Waterloo have arrested three people in connection with the theft of scrap metal worth about $8,000.
Waterloo police say 19-year-old John Lester Fluhr and 19-year-old Cole Dean McNamara were arrested early Monday after it was determined that scrap metal was stolen from a local business. A 16-year-old boy was also arrested.
Police say a concerned citizen called authorities to report people outside of a vehicle loaded with scrap metal.
Fluhr and McNamara face charges of second-degree and fourth-degree theft. Court records do not list an attorney.
The 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree theft. The Associated Press generally does not name juveniles suspected of crimes.
