'Fry Fest' Shows Off Best Of Hawkeye Pride

CORALVILLE, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The anticipation is growing.

You see all the countdowns throughout town and on Facebook and whatnot, Hawkeye Fan Roby Miller said.

As for the temperaturesthey're rising.

So hot, probably the hottest summer I can remember in Iowa for a while, Miller said.

Another Hawkeye season is set to kick off, with Fry Fest on Friday night being the opening act. But have high temperatures left the black and gold faithful feeling blue this weekend?

Not a chance.

I think the anticipation will cancel out the heat and everybody's gonna have fun, Miller said.

Concert goers at Fry Fest Friday night say bring on the heat.

I'm hot, but when you're a Hawkeye fan you come to Hawkeye city to do Hawkeye things, Hawkeye fan Karen Wick said. Doesn't matter what the weather is.

In fact all eyes tomorrow will be on a different forecast, the success of this years season. For that, we asked go to our own Fox 28 junior prognosticators, who were attending Fry Fest.

We have to play some good teams, so I don't think we're going to do very well, young Hawkeye fan Oscar Ihrig said.

Young fan Elizabeth Nodia was more optimistic.

How many games are there, 12? Nodia asked. Maybe 8 out of 12.

However, its Emerson Bennett who likely reflects the wish of most Hawkeye fans.

I hope they are undefeated, but I don't think it will happen, Bennett said. I just hope.

Hope is what Saturdays - even hot ones - are made of.
