MLK Jr's March On Washington Celebrated in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Cedar Rapids residents gathered today to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jrs March on Washington. Mayor Ron Corbett and the ACLU of Iowas Executive Director gave speeches at the African American Museum of Iowa today. Kings March on Washington has been called one of the most significant events in the civil rights movement. Organizers say its important we remember Dr. Kings Message and spread it to future generations. The African American Museum of Iowa hopes Americans will remember the march as a symbol of the change that can happen when people work together.
