CR Flight Makes Emergency Landing

Cedar Rapids (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Allegiant air is confirming that allegiant flight 863 going from Cedar Rapids to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International made an emergency landing in Albany Georgia.

According to the airline, an indicator light went off that could have meant a fire in the cargo area.

The pilots decided to land the MD 80 aircraft for the safety of the passengers.  

161 people were on board and evacuated the plane safely upon landing.

After an initial investigation, safety inspectors found no evidence of an actual fire.

Passengers on the plane were given bus transportation to St. Petersburg.
